Our History

For almost a century, Hawaiians have served in the United States Armed Forces, embodying the values of character, resilience, and camaraderie that are deeply ingrained in our military tradition. While the service itself demands grit and excellence, its true impact lies in the unbreakable bonds it forms among those who serve. Many of our founders share this history, having honorably served in various branches of the military.

This brotherhood has created a network of leaders who, especially for those of us with ties to Hawaii, find a unique connection between military service and our cultural heritage. The shared values of responsibility and unity form the foundation of this bond, allowing us to bridge the gap between service and community.

Kumaumau Companies and the Kumaumau Foundation continue to expand our ability to deliver tangible benefits to our clients and demonstrable good to the Native Hawaiian community and other causes we support. As the Kumaumau ventures are each either participating in, graduated from, or preparing to enter the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program, the non-profit Kumaumau Foundation maintains majority ownership of all Kumaumau Companies, which in turn serve as the main vehicle of support for the Foundation.

Our team is excited to further this impact in the generations to come via the Foundation’s non-profit partner organizations and its dedication to uplifting and empowering the Hawaiian community, honoring our roots while fostering meaningful change.
